Stockton vs. South Bay

Preview: Stockton Kings at South Bay Lakers

EL SEGUNDO, Calif. (Interstat) — A pivotal G League Western Conference matchup is set for Tuesday when the South Bay Lakers host the Stockton Kings at the UCLA Health Training Center.

The Lakers (31-16) hold a slim lead over the Kings (29-16) in the standings and will look to replicate their decisive 115-100 victory from Feb. 28, the most recent meeting between the teams. Stockton, however, took the two prior contests in December.

Both teams enter on winning notes. South Bay has won eight of its last 10, including a 119-111 victory over Grand Rapids on Saturday. Stockton is coming off a 121-116 win against Salt Lake City on the same night.

A key matchup will feature two of the league’s top frontcourt players. Stockton’s Patrick Baldwin Jr. is averaging 24.2 points and 12.8 rebounds over his last five games, coming off a dominant 24-point, 16-rebound performance. For South Bay, center Malik Williams has recorded a double-double in eight of his last 10 outings, averaging 17.3 points and 11.0 rebounds in that span. Williams posted 13 points and six rebounds in the Feb. 28 win over Stockton.

The Kings’ recent success has been fueled by Baldwin and supporting performances from DaQuan Jeffries and Jaylin Williams. The Lakers counter with a balanced attack; in their last win, Malik Williams was complemented by guard R.J. Davis’s 22 points.

With only a handful of games remaining in the regular season, Tuesday’s contest carries significant weight for postseason positioning. Tipoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. PDT.
