Austin vs. Noblesville

NOBLESVILLE, Ind. (Interstat) — The Austin Spurs used a dominant second-quarter surge to pull away from the Noblesville Boom and secure a 117-97 victory in a G League matchup Sunday at the Arena at Innovation Mile.

The game remained tightly contested through the opening period, with the Boom holding a narrow 26-25 edge after the first quarter. The decisive shift came in the second frame, where the Spurs’ offense ignited. Austin erupted for 40 points in the quarter, outscoring Noblesville by 16 to establish a commanding 65-50 halftime lead. The Spurs’ ball movement and shot creation during this stretch proved insurmountable, as they consistently generated high-percentage looks and capitalized on Boom turnovers.

Austin maintained control throughout the second half, never allowing the home team to cut the deficit to single digits. The Spurs added 24 points in the third quarter and 28 in the fourth to consistently answer any attempt at a Noblesville rally. The Boom, despite a balanced scoring effort, could not replicate the offensive firepower of the visitors, particularly from beyond the arc.

The win improved Austin’s record to 33 wins and 14 losses, solidifying its position near the top of the league standings. Noblesville fell to 20 wins and 29 losses with the defeat, which marked its second loss to Austin in three days following a 121-107 result on Friday.

Key to the Spurs’ victory was a well-rounded offensive performance and disruptive defense. The Boom were led by guard DaJuan Gordon, who provided a consistent scoring threat, and center Jordan Bell, who anchored the interior. For Austin, the guard play of Adam Flagler facilitated the offense effectively, while forward Harrison Ingram contributed across multiple phases. Forward Stanley Umude provided efficient scoring off the bench, and Kyle Mangas chipped in with timely baskets.

The most critical sequence of the game occurred midway through the second quarter with Austin already building momentum. Following a steal by Adam Flagler, Kyle Mangas finished with a running dunk to extend the Spurs’ lead, forcing a Noblesville timeout at the 7:47 mark. Immediately out of the stoppage, the Spurs defense forced a turnover, leading to a Stanley Umude jumper. On the next possession, Flagler drilled a 27-foot three-pointer, capping a rapid 7-0 run that transformed a manageable deficit into a 20-point margin from which the Boom never recovered. This explosive two-minute span exemplified Austin’s ability to capitalize on mistakes and deliver knockout blows.

Interstat’s ELO system had projected Austin with a 69.6 percent probability to win. The Spurs next host Rip City on Wednesday, while the Boom will face Cleveland at home on Thursday.
