SAN DIEGO (Interstat) — The San Diego Clippers used a dominant first quarter to set the tone in a 113-87 victory over the Valley Suns in a G League game Thursday night at Frontwave Arena.

San Diego erupted for 40 points in the opening period, building a 23-point lead that Valley never seriously threatened. The Suns answered with a 38-point second quarter but could not sustain the momentum, scoring only 10 points in the third as the Clippers pulled away for good.

The win improved San Diego’s record to 25-22. Valley fell to 13-34. The teams will meet again in San Diego on Saturday.
