Valley vs. San Diego

SAN DIEGO (Interstat) — The San Diego Clippers look to solidify their position in the G League playoff chase when they host the struggling Valley Suns on Thursday afternoon at Frontwave Arena.

The Clippers (24-22) enter the contest having split their last six games but remain in the hunt for a postseason berth. They will rely heavily on forward Norchad Omier, who is coming off a dominant 19-point, 22-rebound performance in a loss to Texas on Monday. Omier has averaged 17.3 points and 14.3 rebounds over his last four appearances.

Valley (12-33) seeks to snap a five-game losing skid and find consistency during a difficult season. The Suns will lean on guard Zhuric Phelps, who is averaging 14.1 points, 4.3 rebounds and 3.1 assists over his last 10 games. Phelps is coming off one of his best performances of the season, scoring 27 points with eight rebounds and four assists in a loss at Windy City on Saturday.

The teams have split two meetings this season, both in Valley in December. The Suns won the most recent matchup 121-118 on Dec. 11.

San Diego’s backcourt, featuring Sean Pedulla and Hunter Sallis, will challenge a Valley defense that has allowed an average of 122.3 points during its current losing streak. Pedulla scored 29 points in the Clippers’ last outing.

The Suns have shown offensive sparks, with Jaden Shackelford and Marcus Burk providing support for Phelps. Shackelford also scored 27 points in the loss to Windy City.

Tipoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. PDT. The teams will meet again at Frontwave Arena on Saturday.
