Mexico City vs. Wisconsin
Capitanes, Herd Meet in G League Showdown Saturday
OSHKOSH, Wis. (Interstat) — A surging Mexico City Capitanes squad will look to continue its push up the standings when it visits the struggling Wisconsin Herd on Saturday night at Oshkosh Arena.
The Capitanes (23-16) enter the contest having won five of their last six games, including a 122-110 victory over Noblesville on Tuesday. They sit comfortably above .500 and are showcasing one of the league’s most dominant recent performers in forward Andersson Garcia.
Garcia is coming off a monstrous 20-rebound, 10-point effort against Noblesville and has recorded a double-double in five consecutive games. Over that stretch, he is averaging 15.8 points and 14.0 rebounds, providing a consistent interior force for Mexico City. He is complemented by guards Wade Taylor (22 points Tuesday) and R.J. Melendez (21 points).
In contrast, the Wisconsin Herd (12-28) has found victories scarce, though they are coming off a 134-126 road win at Memphis on Feb. 27. That result snapped a five-game losing skid, but the Herd have lost 10 of their last 12 overall and possess the worst record in the Western Conference. Their defense has been a particular concern, allowing 112 or more points in eight of those 10 losses.
This game is the second of a quick two-game set between the teams. They played Friday night in Oshkosh, with Wisconsin securing a 134-126 victory. Saturday’s matchup offers Mexico City an immediate chance for redemption.
For the Capitanes, this contest begins a brief two-game road trip before returning home. Wisconsin, after hosting Valley on Monday, will embark on a three-game road swing.
Tipoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. CST at Oshkosh Arena. The Capitanes will rely on Garcia’s rebounding prowess and their recent winning form, while the Herd will look to build momentum from their Feb. 27 win and find consistency in front of their home crowd.
