Iowa vs. Stockton

STOCKTON, Calif. (Interstat) — The Stockton Kings used a dominant second-quarter surge to overpower the Iowa Wolves and secure a 131-118 victory in a G League matchup Wednesday afternoon at Stockton Arena.

The game turned decisively in the second period when the Kings outscored the Wolves 46-36, transforming a narrow 26-25 lead after the first quarter into a 72-61 halftime advantage. That explosive quarter, fueled by efficient offense and defensive stops, provided a cushion the Kings would not relinquish.

Stockton’s offensive execution was led by DaQuan Jeffries, whose versatile scoring from the wing proved critical. Jon Elmore orchestrated the attack from the point guard position, consistently finding open teammates, while Gabe Levin provided a strong interior presence on both ends of the floor. The Kings’ ball movement and shot creation during their second-quarter run effectively broke open what had been a tightly contested game.

Iowa, which entered the contest having defeated Stockton 114-109 on Feb. 3, fought to keep pace throughout the night. The Wolves were led by guard Jalen Crutcher, who sparked several rallies with timely shooting. Zyon Pullin also contributed significant backcourt scoring for Iowa. Despite their efforts, the Wolves could not consistently string together the defensive stops needed to overcome the Kings’ lead after the intermission.

The third quarter saw Stockton maintain its offensive momentum, adding 31 points to Iowa’s 24 to extend the lead to 103-85 heading into the final frame. Iowa mounted a characteristic push in the fourth quarter, scoring 33 points, but the Kings answered with 28 of their own to close out the win.

With the victory, Stockton improved its season record to 24-12 across all competitions. Iowa fell to 21-17. The game’s outcome aligned with the pregame statistical projection from Interstat’s ELO system, which heavily favored the Kings at home.

The most important part of the game was Stockton’s commanding 46-point second quarter. That 12-minute stretch was the definitive turning point, establishing a double-digit lead that Iowa challenged but never erased. The Kings’ combination of perimeter shooting, interior scoring, and forced turnovers during that period overwhelmed the Wolves’ defense and set the tone for the remainder of the contest.

Iowa returns home to face Mexico City on Friday. Stockton travels to face the South Bay Lakers on Saturday.
