College Park vs. Motor City
Skyhawks, Cruise Set for Rematch After Low-Scoring Affair
WALKER, Mich. (Interstat) — The Motor City Cruise and College Park Skyhawks will complete a quick two-game set Sunday at DeltaPlex Arena, just two days after a defensive struggle saw the Cruise prevail 73-64.
The rematch tips off at 3 p.m. EST on Feb. 22, with the .500 Cruise (18-18) looking to build momentum and the struggling Skyhawks (9-26) seeking to snap a three-game skid and find consistency.
Friday’s matchup was an anomaly for both clubs, who typically engage in high-scoring affairs. The Cruise will aim to return to their recent form after a 123-108 road win at Maine on Feb. 12, while College Park is looking to rebound from a heartbreaking 130-129 overtime loss at Noblesville on the same date.
A key matchup will feature two of the G League’s premier playmakers. College Park’s RayJ Dennis enters on a historic individual tear, averaging 26.6 points and 11.1 assists over his last nine games. That stretch includes a 47-point, 11-assist effort in the loss to Noblesville and a triple-double (34 points, 10 rebounds, 15 assists) in a win over Rip City on Feb. 7.
He will be countered by Motor City’s Wendell Moore Jr., who is averaging 24.9 points over his last nine contests. Moore is coming off a strong back-to-back in Maine, scoring 30 points on Feb. 11 and 24 points with seven assists on Feb. 12.
The Cruise have won both meetings this season, including a 113-112 victory in College Park on Dec. 22. Home court has been a slight advantage for Motor City, which is 10-8 at DeltaPlex this season. The Skyhawks have struggled on the road, posting a 4-13 record away from Georgia.
For College Park, support for Dennis will be crucial. Basheer Jihad (23 points) and Caleb Houstan (18 points) provided scoring punch in the Noblesville loss. Motor City will look for continued production from Isaac Jones, who had 26 points and seven rebounds in the win over Maine.
Following Sunday’s game, the Cruise host Delaware on Tuesday. The Skyhawks return home to face Raptors 905 on Tuesday.
