Birmingham vs. Noblesville
Boom Host Squadron in G League Showdown
NOBLESVILLE, Ind. (Interstat) — The Noblesville Boom will look to continue their recent surge when they host the struggling Birmingham Squadron in a G League matchup Sunday at the Arena at Innovation Mile.
The Boom (13-15) have won four of their last five games, including a 117-115 overtime victory at Wisconsin on Jan. 24. Forward Cody Martin has been instrumental, averaging 19.3 points, 5.3 rebounds and 4.3 assists over his last three contests. He poured in a season-high 28 points in the win over the Herd.
Noblesville will aim to replicate its performance from just two days prior, when it defeated Birmingham 123-112 on Jan. 30. Game details from that contest were not provided.
The Squadron (10-22) arrive having snapped a seven-game skid with a 115-97 home win over Sioux Falls on Wednesday. Guard Trey Alexander led the way with 31 points, six assists and five rebounds. Alexander has been a bright spot during Birmingham’s difficult season, averaging 23.4 points and 7.4 assists over his last five games.
Despite their overall record, the Squadron have shown offensive capability, scoring 115 or more points in two of their last three outings. D.J. Carton added 26 points, 10 rebounds and eight assists in the win over Sioux Falls, while center Hunter Dickinson posted a double-double with 16 points and 12 rebounds.
The Boom’s recent success has been fueled by balanced contributions. Alongside Martin, forward Gabe McGlothan is coming off a 25-point, nine-rebound performance against Wisconsin, and Jalen Slawson dished out nine assists in the same game.
Noblesville holds a clear advantage in the standings and seeks to build momentum before a four-game road trip beginning Wednesday in Osceola. Birmingham, looking to string together consecutive wins for the first time since late December, continues a road swing that next stops in Capital City on Feb. 7.
Tipoff is scheduled for Sunday afternoon.
