Birmingham vs. Noblesville

NOBLESVILLE, Ind. (Interstat) — The Noblesville Boom used a dominant first half and a series of timely scoring runs to outlast the Birmingham Squadron 124-111 in a G League contest Friday night at the Arena at Innovation Mile.

The Boom, improving to 14-15, built a commanding 67-46 halftime lead behind a potent offensive start, scoring 35 points in the first quarter and 32 in the second. The Squadron, falling to 10-23, could not recover from the early deficit despite a spirited 36-point third-quarter effort that briefly narrowed the gap.

Noblesville’s offensive execution proved decisive. The Boom consistently answered Birmingham rallies, most notably in the third quarter when the Squadron cut the lead to single digits. Each time Birmingham threatened, Noblesville responded with a burst of scoring, often fueled by three-pointers or transition baskets, to rebuild a double-digit cushion.

The Boom’s ball movement and perimeter shooting were central to the victory. A key sequence late in the third quarter typified the game’s flow. After Birmingham had drawn within eight points, Noblesville’s Gabe McGlothan converted a four-point play, drawing a flagrant foul and sinking a free throw before Au’Diese Toney scored on the ensuing possession. This quick five-point swing pushed the lead back to 13 and stifled the Squadron’s momentum.

McGlothan was instrumental for the home team, providing consistent scoring and floor spacing. His performance, alongside efficient guard play from Quenton Jackson and Ethan Thompson, allowed Noblesville to maintain control. The Boom assisted on a majority of their field goals, exploiting Birmingham’s defensive rotations.

For Birmingham, a balanced scoring attack was not enough to overcome its early struggles. Keion Brooks led a persistent effort, while Hunter Dickinson and Josh Oduro provided interior scoring. The Squadron’s third-quarter surge, which saw them outscore Noblesville 36-33, highlighted their capability but also underscored the challenge of climbing out of a 21-point hole.

The game’s most important phase was the first half, where Noblesville established its winning margin. The Boom shot efficiently from the field and capitalized on Birmingham turnovers to create easy scoring opportunities, setting a pace the Squadron could not match over the full 48 minutes. Despite a valiant effort after halftime, Birmingham’s comeback bid was repeatedly extinguished by Noblesville’s composed and collective response to every run.

The two teams are scheduled to meet again at the same venue on Sunday.
