Wisconsin vs. Capital City

WASHINGTON (Interstat) — The Wisconsin Herd delivered a stunning and decisive road victory Friday afternoon, overwhelming the Capital City Go-Go 124-99 in a G League matchup at CareFirst Arena.

The game’s outcome was effectively decided in a blistering first quarter, which proved to be the most important segment of the contest. Wisconsin erupted for 42 points while holding the home team to just 17, establishing a 25-point lead from which Capital City never recovered. The Herd’s offensive execution was immediate and relentless, starting with a Cormac Ryan 3-pointer just 13 seconds into the game and continuing with a series of makes and forced turnovers that buried the Go-Go early.

Capital City, which entered the game at .500 and was a heavy favorite according to pregame projections, had no answer for Wisconsin’s initial surge. The Go-Go missed 10 of their first 11 field goal attempts and committed five turnovers in the opening six minutes, allowing the Herd to build a 20-2 lead. Wisconsin’s early dominance forced Capital City into its first timeout just over two minutes into the game, but the stoppage did little to stem the tide.

The Herd maintained control throughout, answering every modest Capital City push. After taking a 62-39 lead into halftime, Wisconsin saw its advantage trimmed to 10 points in the third quarter following a 14-2 Go-Go run. However, the Herd responded with a quick 7-0 spurt of its own to restore order and entered the fourth quarter leading 94-74.

Wisconsin’s balanced attack overwhelmed Capital City. Mark Sears orchestrated the offense effectively, while Cormac Ryan and Stephen Thompson provided consistent scoring, particularly from the perimeter. Johnny Davis and Kira Lewis contributed key plays off the bench to sustain momentum.

For Capital City, Keshon Gilbert and Alondes Williams tried to spark rallies, and AJ Johnson found scoring opportunities, but the team’s early deficit was too large to overcome. The Go-Go fell to 14-14 across all competitions.

The victory improved Wisconsin’s record to 11-19 and provided a bright spot in a challenging season. The two teams are scheduled for a quick rematch in Washington on Saturday night.
