Wisconsin vs. Capital City
Preview: Wisconsin Herd at Capital City Go-Go
WASHINGTON (Interstat) — The Capital City Go-Go will look to solidify their position above .500 when they host the struggling Wisconsin Herd in a G League matchup Friday afternoon at CareFirst Arena.
The Go-Go (14-13) enter on a positive note after a 112-96 road victory over Austin last Friday, led by a standout performance from Alondes Williams. The forward tallied 25 points, nine rebounds and five assists in that win, part of a consistent stretch where he has averaged 18.1 points, 6.3 rebounds and 4.9 assists over his last seven games. His versatility will be central to Capital City’s attack.
Conversely, the Herd (10-19) aim to halt a two-game skid, most recently a 117-115 overtime loss to Noblesville on Saturday. Despite the defeat, wing Cormac Ryan continued his offensive surge with 25 points. He has been a bright spot for Wisconsin, scoring 20 or more points in eight of his last ten contests, averaging 22.6 points per game during that span. Support in the backcourt comes from Stevie Thompson, who added 24 points in the loss, and veteran guard Victor Oladipo, who posted 15 points and eight rebounds.
The teams’ seasons have trended in opposite directions recently. Capital City has won three of its last four games, showing improved form. Wisconsin has lost four of its last five, though several defeats have been narrow, including the overtime thriller and a five-point loss to Noblesville two days prior.
This contest opens a brief two-game set between the clubs, with a rematch scheduled in Washington on Saturday. For the Go-Go, it’s a chance to build momentum before a four-game homestand. For the Herd, it represents a critical opportunity to reverse their fortunes on a road trip that continues next week in Delaware.
Tip-off is set for 7 p.m. EST Friday.
