Austin vs. Valley

Preview: Austin Spurs at Valley Suns

TEMPE, Ariz. (Interstat) — The surging Austin Spurs visit the struggling Valley Suns in a G League rematch Tuesday night at Mullett Arena, just three days after handing the Suns an 11-point defeat.

The Spurs (20-7) enter with the league’s elite record, having won seven of their last nine games. Their most recent outing was a 102-91 victory on this same floor Sunday. The Suns (8-20), conversely, have lost 12 of their last 15 contests, though they are coming off a 107-100 road win at Texas on Friday.

Austin is led by guard Jayden Nunn, who has been a consistent offensive force. Over his last seven games, Nunn is averaging 15.9 points, including a 24-point performance in Sunday’s win over Valley and a 23-point effort in a victory over Capital City last week.

Valley will counter with dynamic guard Damion Baugh, who has posted prolific all-around numbers despite the team’s record. In his last 10 games, Baugh has averaged 22.4 points, 6.7 rebounds and 9.1 assists, recording four triple-doubles and three double-doubles in that span. His 15-assist, 28-point, 10-rebound triple-double in a Jan. 7 win over Oklahoma City highlights his capability.

The Suns’ offense, fueled by Baugh, ranks among the league’s more potent units but is offset by a defense that allows a league-worst 121.3 points per game. Austin’s more balanced attack, which averages 115.2 points, will look to exploit that weakness again.

According to Interstat’s game simulator, the Spurs are projected to win convincingly, 123-100.

For Austin, this game begins a stretch of six road contests in their next nine outings. The Suns continue a five-game homestand, seeking to build momentum after their rare win in Texas.

Tip-off is scheduled for 7 p.m. MST.
