Motor City vs. Delaware

WILMINGTON, Del. (Interstat) — Two teams looking to build momentum will meet Saturday when the Motor City Cruise visit the Delaware Blue Coats in a G League matchup at 76ers Fieldhouse.

The Cruise (12-15) arrive having won three of their last four, including a 125-114 victory over Grand Rapids on Thursday. They are led by forward Tolu Smith, who is in the midst of a dominant stretch. Over his last seven games, Smith is averaging 18.9 points, 10.0 rebounds, 3.6 assists and 1.1 blocks, including a 25-point, 15-rebound performance in a win at Birmingham on Jan. 17.

The Blue Coats (10-17) have lost three straight, most recently a 127-112 defeat at Noblesville on Monday. Forward DeAndre Williams has been a bright spot, averaging 16.1 points and 7.2 rebounds over his last 10 contests. He scored 21 points with eight rebounds in the loss to Noblesville, and had a 27-point, 11-rebound outing against College Park on Jan. 14.

Delaware will look to slow Smith and a Motor City offense that has topped 125 points in two of its last three wins. The Blue Coats have struggled defensively during their skid, allowing an average of 128.3 points per game in the three losses.

This is the first of two scheduled meetings between the affiliates of the Detroit Pistons and Philadelphia 76ers this season. They are set to meet again in Motor City on Feb. 24.

Following Saturday’s game, the Cruise begin a two-game set at Long Island on Monday. The Blue Coats are off until next Friday when they start a two-game road series at Valley.
