Westchester vs. Wisconsin
Preview: Westchester Knicks at Wisconsin Herd
OSHKOSH, Wis. (Interstat) — The struggling Westchester Knicks seek a rare victory when they visit the Wisconsin Herd in a G League matchup Monday night at Oshkosh Arena.
Westchester (4-20) enters on a three-game skid and owns the league’s worst record. Its most recent outing was a 123-111 home loss to Greensboro on Thursday. The Knicks have shown brief flashes, winning two road games at Motor City earlier this month, but have been unable to sustain momentum.
The Knicks will lean on forward Isaiah Roby, who has been a consistent bright spot. He is coming off a 24-point, four-rebound, four-assist performance in 38 minutes against Greensboro. Over his last 10 games, Roby is averaging 14.3 points, 6.0 rebounds and 3.2 assists.
Wisconsin (9-16) has been marginally better and is looking to build on a 113-98 home win over Maine on Friday. Forward John Butler erupted for 27 points and six rebounds in that victory, showcasing his scoring potential. His production has been variable, but he remains a key perimeter threat for the Herd.
This is the second meeting between the teams in three days, following a scheduled game Saturday. Details from that contest were not immediately available for this preview.
For Westchester, support for Roby has come from guards Bryson Warren, who scored 29 points against Greensboro, and Dink Pate, who added 18 points and seven assists. The Knicks will need similar backcourt production to keep pace.
Wisconsin’s Stevie Thompson is coming off a 17-point, 10-assist double-double against Maine, providing a steady hand at point guard.
The game pits two teams in the lower tier of the league standings, both desperate for wins to climb out of early-season holes. Westchester’s porous defense, which has allowed 120 or more points in six of its last ten games, will be tested by a Wisconsin team averaging 107.3 points per contest.
Following Monday’s game, Westchester continues a road-heavy schedule, while Wisconsin prepares for a two-game set against Noblesville later this week.
