Memphis vs. Rip City

PORTLAND, Ore. (Interstat) — The Rip City Remix used a dominant fourth-quarter performance to pull away from the Memphis Hustle for a 119-109 victory in a G League matchup Monday night at the Chiles Center.

In a game that featured 16 lead changes and 10 ties, the Remix outscored the Hustle 33-24 in the final period to secure the win and improve their season record to 16-11. Memphis, which lost for the second consecutive night to Rip City after a 108-105 defeat on Sunday, fell to 8-17.

The contest was a back-and-forth affair through three quarters, with neither team able to build a substantial lead. The first quarter ended tied at 29, and Rip City took a slim 59-55 advantage into halftime. Memphis mounted a challenge in the third, outscoring the Remix 30-27 to narrow the gap to 86-85 heading into the final 12 minutes.

The most important part of the game came early in the fourth quarter when Rip City seized control with a decisive 12-2 run. With the score 93-91 in favor of the Remix, Sean Pedulla ignited the surge with a dunk off a Memphis turnover. After a Hustle offensive foul, Yang Hansen hit a free throw, and following another Memphis miss, Cameron Parker found Jayson Kent for a driving layup to extend the lead to 101-91 with 7:44 remaining. The Remix defense tightened during this stretch, forcing multiple Memphis misses and turnovers, effectively creating the separation that would last the rest of the game.

Memphis fought to close the gap, pulling within 110-105 on a Lawson Lovering dunk with 4:39 left. But Pedulla answered with a critical 25-foot three-pointer on the next possession, assisted by Kalib Boone, to push the lead back to eight points. The Hustle would get no closer than seven points the rest of the way as Rip City closed out the game at the free-throw line.

The Remix showcased balanced scoring and defensive activity, capitalizing on 22 Memphis turnovers. Blake Hinson led a group of key contributors for Rip City, while Charlie Brown was a focal point for the Hustle offense.

The game was marred by sloppy play at times, with the teams combining for 49 personal fouls and several offensive fouls and turnovers, particularly in a disjointed first quarter that saw multiple coach’s challenges.

With the win, Rip City completed a two-game home sweep of the Hustle. Memphis will continue a road trip at Salt Lake City on Wednesday, while the Remix travel to face Rio Grande Valley on Thursday.
