Westchester vs. Wisconsin

Preview: Westchester Knicks at Wisconsin Herd

OSHKOSH, Wis. (Interstat) — Two teams seeking to reverse difficult starts to the G League season will meet Saturday when the Westchester Knicks visit the Wisconsin Herd at Oshkosh Arena.

The Herd (8-16) enter with a slight edge in the standings over the Knicks (4-20), though both clubs have struggled for consistency. Wisconsin looks to bounce back from a 114-106 home loss to Maine on Wednesday. In that game, guard Stevie Thompson posted a double-double with 22 points and 10 rebounds, continuing a strong individual stretch.

Thompson has been a bright spot for Wisconsin, averaging 20.7 points, 6.6 rebounds and 5.2 assists over his last 10 contests. His recent performances include a 32-point, 11-assist effort in a loss at Long Island on Jan. 9.

Westchester arrives after a 123-111 home loss to Greensboro on Thursday, its third straight defeat. The Knicks have lost 10 of their last 12 games. Forward Isaiah Roby led the way against Greensboro with 24 points in 38 minutes and remains the team’s primary player to watch. Over his past 10 games, Roby is averaging 14.8 points, 6.0 rebounds, 3.2 assists and 1.4 blocks.

Despite the records, both teams have shown offensive capability. Westchester scored 140 points in an overtime win at Motor City on Jan. 3, while Wisconsin has topped 108 points in four of its last six outings.

According to Interstat’s ELO system, Wisconsin is projected as a significant favorite with a 75.90 percent probability to win.

This contest is the first of a two-game set between the teams at Oshkosh Arena, with a rematch scheduled for Monday.
