Stars Overpower Suns in High-Scoring G League Showdown
SALT LAKE CITY, Utah (Interstat) — The Salt Lake City Stars used a dominant 47-point second quarter to pull away from the Valley Suns and secure a 141-125 G League victory Tuesday at Bruin Arena.
The Suns started strong, leading 35-23 after the first quarter, but the Stars’ explosive second period flipped the game. Salt Lake City never relinquished the lead after halftime, improving its league-best record to 12-2. Valley dropped to 3-11.
Salt Lake City’s John Tonje provided a major spark off the bench, connecting on multiple 3-pointers during the pivotal run. Valley’s Damion Baugh and C.J. Huntley kept the Suns within striking distance, but the Stars’ balanced attack, featuring key contributions from Mohamed Bamba and E.J. Harkless, proved too much. It was the Stars’ second win over Valley in as many nights.
