Osceola vs. Memphis

Preview: Osceola Magic at Memphis Hustle

SOUTHAVEN, Miss. (Interstat) — A clash of trending G League teams arrives at the DeSoto Civic Center on Thursday when the surging Osceola Magic visit the struggling Memphis Hustle.

The Magic (8-3) enter on a two-game win streak following a high-scoring 139-123 road victory over Oklahoma City on Saturday. Forward Jamal Cain has been a driving force, averaging 24.2 points and 6.0 rebounds over his last five games, including a 37-point performance in a narrow loss to Rio Grande Valley on Dec. 1. He scored 29 points in Saturday’s win, supported by Lester Quinones’ 30 points and Orlando Robinson’s 17 points and nine rebounds.

Conversely, the Hustle (4-7) have lost seven of their last nine, though they are coming off a dominant 124-99 road win at Birmingham last Friday. Guard Charlie Brown Jr. led that effort with 26 points, five rebounds and four assists. He has been a bright spot, averaging 22.0 points over his last three contests.

The teams’ recent results highlight a stark contrast. Osceola’s offense has been potent, scoring 113 points or more in eight of its 11 games. Memphis has shown defensive vulnerabilities, allowing 110 points or more in eight of its 11 outings.

This game begins a critical home-and-home set, with the teams meeting again in Osceola on Sunday. According to Interstat’s game simulator, the Magic are projected to win decisively, 125-100.

For Memphis, reversing its fortunes will require containing Cain and the Magic’s high-powered attack while hoping Brown can continue his efficient scoring. For Osceola, maintaining its offensive rhythm on the road could extend its winning streak and solidify its strong early-season record.

Tip-off is scheduled for 7 p.m. CST Thursday.
