SÃO JOÃO DA VENDA, Portugal (Interstat) — Finland defeated Sweden 1-0 in an international friendly Wednesday at Estádio Do Algarve.

Getsel Montes scored the game’s only goal in the 66th minute for Finland. Sweden, designated the home team for the match organized by the Friendlies of Friendlies in World, failed to capitalize despite late pressure.

A goal by Christoffer Nyman for Sweden in the 38th minute and another by substitute Joel Asoro in stoppage time were both disallowed, preserving the shutout for Finland. Finland’s Robert Ivanov received a yellow card in the 29th minute.

The result improves Finland’s record to 1-0 in this competition, while Sweden falls to 0-1. The match was played in Portugal, not in either team’s home nation.
