Club Jaiba Brava Edges Cancun in Chaotic Liga MX Expansión Clash
CANCÚN, Mexico (Interstat) — Club Jaiba Brava defeated Cancun 2-1 on Saturday in a Liga de Expansión MX match marred by discipline issues at Estadio Olímpico Andrés Quintana Roo.
Substitute Oliver Pérez was the catalyst for the visitors, scoring in the sixth minute and assisting on a 28th-minute goal by forward José Rodríguez. Cancun’s Diego García, also a substitute, pulled one back in the 70th minute.
The match featured nine yellow cards and one red. Cancun defender Even Padilla, who received a yellow in the 57th minute, was sent off with a red in the 68th, leaving his side shorthanded for the final stretch. The result reversed the teams’ prior meeting and defied pregame projections that heavily favored Cancun.
