RABAT, Morocco (Interstat) — Nigeria and the Democratic Republic of Congo played to a 1-1 draw in a World Cup qualifier on Sunday at Stade Prince Héritier Moulay Hassan. Frank Onyeka put Nigeria ahead in the third minute, but DR Congo’s substitute Mechack Elia equalized in the 32nd. The result extended Nigeria’s pattern of draws in the competition, while DR Congo remained near the top of the group with just one loss. The outcome defied pregame projections that heavily favored a Nigerian victory.
