Nigeria vs Gabon

ABUJA, Nigeria (Interstat) — Two of the few remaining undefeated teams in their World Cup qualifying group will clash Thursday when Nigeria hosts Gabon in a pivotal African zone match.

The Super Eagles of Nigeria (1-0-0) enter the contest at Abuja National Stadium following a dominant 4-0 victory over Benin on Oct. 14. However, their form has been inconsistent across all competitions this season, with a record of 3-2-1 that includes a stunning 4-0 loss to South Sudan in August.

Gabon (2-0-0) arrives as one of the group’s surprises, boasting a perfect qualifying record and an impressive 3-0-1 mark across all matches. Les Panthères are riding a wave of momentum, coming off a 2-0 win over Burundi and a thrilling 4-3 victory against Gambia in October. Their attack has been potent, scoring ten goals in their last three official matches.

The matchup features Nigeria’s explosive, but sometimes erratic, offense against a confident Gabon side that has proven it can win close games and score in bunches. Nigeria will look to capitalize on its home-field advantage, while Gabon aims to continue its unbeaten run and secure a valuable road result.

According to the Interstat game simulator, the contest is projected to end in a 1-1 draw.

Following this match, Nigeria will next travel to face Uganda on Dec. 30. Gabon’s next fixture is a Dec. 24 Africa Cup of Nations match at Cameroon.
