Buriram Utd vs Gangwon
Preview: Gangwon Faces Buriram United in AFC Champions League Clash
BURIRAM, Thailand (Interstat) — Thai powerhouse Buriram United hosts South Korea’s Gangwon FC in a pivotal AFC Champions League group stage match on Tuesday.
The contest at Buriram’s Thunder Castle Stadium pits a dominant domestic side against a visiting club seeking consistency on the continental stage.
Buriram enters with strong form, having won three straight matches across all competitions. In its most recent outing, it defeated Kanchanaburi Power FC 3-1 in domestic play last Saturday. Its Champions League campaign has been marked by resilience, including a scoreless draw at South Korea’s Ulsan HD on Nov. 26 and a key 2-0 home victory over China’s Shanghai Haigang on Nov. 4.
Conversely, Gangwon arrives after a disappointing 3-1 home loss to Japan’s FC Machida Zelvia in the Champions League on Nov. 25. Its continental form has been uneven, with recent losses to Machida, S’frecce Hiroshima and China’s Cheng Rongcheng, but also featuring a thrilling 4-3 win over Japan’s Vissel Kobe in October.
The matchup will test Gangwon’s road resolve against a Buriram side known for its formidable home atmosphere. Buriram’s attack has been potent, exemplified by a 12-0 domestic cup win in late October, while its defense has secured clean sheets in two of its last three outings.
According to the Interstat game simulator, Buriram is projected to win 2-0.
Following Tuesday’s match, Buriram returns to domestic action against Port FC on Dec. 14. Gangwon’s next fixture is not until Feb. 11, 2026, when it hosts Shanghai Haigang in the Champions League.
Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. local time.
