Wofford at Citadel

CHARLESTON, S.C. (Interstat) — Two teams riding opposite waves of momentum will meet Saturday when The Citadel Bulldogs host the Wofford Terriers in a Southern Conference matchup at Johnson Hagood Stadium.

Both teams enter the contest with identical 4-6 overall records, but they are heading in different directions. Wofford is surging, coming off a dominant 52-10 road victory over Virginia Military Institute last Saturday. Quarterback J.T. Fayard was prolific in that win, completing 22 of 33 passes for 365 yards and five touchdowns.

The Terriers have won three of their last four games, including convincing wins over Samford and Furman.

Conversely, The Citadel is reeling from a 49-0 road loss to FBS opponent Ole Miss. The Bulldogs’ offense struggled mightily, with quarterback Cobey Thompkins completing just 3 of 6 passes for 23 yards. Prior to that defeat, The Citadel had shown flashes, defeating VMI 35-24 and Valdosta State 38-14.

According to a projection from Interstat, The Citadel is a narrow favorite, with a simulated final score of 27-22. The game will likely hinge on whether Wofford’s resurgent offense, led by Fayard, can continue its high-scoring ways against a Bulldogs team looking to rebound at home.

The matchup is the penultimate game of the season for both programs. Wofford will host Chattanooga on Nov. 22, while The Citadel will travel to face East Tennessee State.
