Texas at Georgia

ATHENS, Ga. (Interstat) — A top-tier nonconference showdown with potential College Football Playoff implications is set for Saturday as the Texas Longhorns visit the Georgia Bulldogs at Sanford Stadium.

The Longhorns (7-2) enter as a slight road favorite, with oddsmakers installing Texas at -6.5. The over/under is 50.5, while Interstat’s game simulator projects a 27-23 victory for the Bulldogs.

Texas is coming off a narrow 34-31 home win over Vanderbilt on Nov. 1, where quarterback Arch Manning led the offense, completing 25 of 33 passes for 328 yards and three touchdowns. The Longhorns’ two losses this season came on the road against then-Ohio State and then-Florida.

The Bulldogs (8-1), whose only loss was a 24-21 defeat to then-Alabama, are riding high after a dominant 41-21 road win over Mississippi State last Saturday. In that game, quarterback Gunner Stockton threw for 264 yards and three touchdowns, while running back Nate Frazier rushed for 181 yards and a score on just 12 carries.

This matchup pits Texas’s potent passing attack, led by Manning, against a physical Georgia ground game that features Frazier. The Bulldogs’ lone blemish suggests vulnerability at home, setting the stage for a compelling clash between two of the nation’s premier programs.
