Southeastern Louisiana at Lamar

BEAUMONT, Texas (Interstat) — A pivotal Southland Conference showdown with potential playoff implications is set for Saturday as the Lamar Cardinals host the Southeastern Louisiana Lions.

Both teams enter Provost Umphrey Stadium with identical 7-2 records, creating a logjam near the top of the conference standings. The game is projected to be a high-scoring affair, with Interstat’s game simulator forecasting a 38-33 victory for the visiting Lions.

Southeastern Louisiana arrives with dominant momentum, riding a four-game winning streak. The Lions are coming off a 59-14 rout of Texas A&M-Commerce where their offense amassed over 580 total yards. During their current streak, the Lions have outscored their opponents 184-28.

Lamar looks to rebound at home after a 24-17 road loss to Incarnate Word last Saturday snapped a five-game winning streak. The Cardinals’ offense, which had been consistently productive, was held to a season-low in points in the defeat. Quarterback Robert Coleman will be tasked with reigniting the unit against a stifling Lions defense.

The matchup features two of the conference’s top teams, with the winner taking a significant step toward a conference title and FCS playoff berth. Kickoff is scheduled for 4 p.m. CST.
