Prairie View Routs Alabama A&M Behind Peters’ 5 Touchdowns

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (Interstat) — In a stunning display of offensive firepower and defensive dominance, the Prairie View A&M Panthers routed the Alabama A&M Bulldogs 48-5 on Saturday afternoon at a subdued Louis Crews Stadium.

The game, played on Nov. 8, 2025, was projected to be a tightly contested affair by Interstat’s game simulator, which had forecast a 42-40 Prairie View victory. The reality was a lopsided affair that saw the Panthers score 35 unanswered points after the first quarter.

The Bulldogs struck first, capitalizing on their most productive drive of the day. A 40-yard rush by Isaiah Nwokenkwo set up a 33-yard field goal by David Faulk with 4:54 remaining in the opening quarter, giving Alabama A&M a 3-0 lead. It would be their only points from the offense all day.

From there, the game belonged entirely to Prairie View and its quarterback, Cameron Peters. The 6-foot-4, 207-pound junior from Missouri City, Texas, delivered a masterful performance, dissecting the Bulldogs’ defense with precision and efficiency. Peters completed 17 of 22 pass attempts for 394 yards and five touchdowns, adding 36 yards on seven rushing attempts.

The Panthers’ offense, which had sputtered on its first few possessions, finally ignited in the second quarter. Peters connected with Ja’Koby Banks on a 39-yard touchdown strike down the left sideline with 5:14 left in the half to give Prairie View a lead it would not relinquish.

Just before halftime, Peters engineered a lightning-fast scoring drive, culminating in a 39-yard touchdown pass to his favorite target, Jyzaiah Rockwell, as time expired in the second quarter. The score gave the Panthers a 13-3 lead at the break, with the Bulldogs adding a safety in the quarter when a bad snap sailed through the back of the Prairie View end zone.

Any hope of an Alabama A&M comeback was extinguished in the third quarter as Peters and the Panthers continued their aerial assault. After a lengthy drive to open the half, Peters found Rockwell again, this time for a 27-yard touchdown. The play was briefly reviewed but upheld, solidifying the Panthers’ control.

Later in the third, Peters and Rockwell linked up for a third scoring play, a 9-yard connection that pushed the lead to 27-5. Rockwell, a 6-foot-3 receiver from Gilmer, Texas, was the primary beneficiary of Peters’ big day, hauling in eight receptions for 183 yards and the three scores.

The fourth quarter was more of the same. Andre Dennis, a versatile weapon from Beaumont, Texas, took a reverse 18 yards for a touchdown early in the period. On the Panthers’ next offensive play, Peters launched a 56-yard bomb to Chaney Fitzgeraled for another score, his fifth and final touchdown pass of the afternoon.

The scoring was capped by running back Shadrick Byrd, who plunged in from 1 yard out with 3:26 remaining. Byrd, from Alabaster, Alabama, led the Panthers’ ground game with 75 yards on 11 carries.

The Panthers’ defense was equally impressive, completely stifling the Alabama A&M offense. Bulldogs quarterback Eric Handley, a 6-foot-2 sophomore from Fultondale, Alabama, was under constant pressure, finishing 18 of 36 for just 101 yards. The Bulldogs managed only 101 total yards of offense and 12 first downs, with a significant portion of their rushing total coming from backup quarterback Braxton Thompson in the game’s final, inconsequential minutes.

The loss drops Alabama A&M to 4-6 on the season, while Prairie View improves to 7-3. The Panthers will look to continue their winning ways next Saturday when they host Arkansas-Pine Bluff. Alabama A&M will seek to regroup at home against Florida A&M.
