Drake at San Diego

SAN DIEGO (Interstat) — The Drake Bulldogs and San Diego Toreros, both seeking a winning record, will meet in a non-conference matchup Saturday at Torero Stadium.

Drake (2-2) enters with momentum after a dominant 41-0 victory over Valparaiso last Saturday. The Bulldogs’ offense found success on the ground, with quarterbacks Chase Spellman and Logan Inagawa combining for three rushing touchdowns. Nick Herman added two more scores on just seven carries.

San Diego (3-3) looks to rebound from a 19-14 road loss to Marist. The Toreros’ offense struggled in that contest, but running back Dom Nankil provided a bright spot, rushing for 127 yards and two touchdowns.

The Bulldogs have shown a pattern of high-scoring performances in their wins, averaging 41 points, but have been outscored in their two losses. The Toreros have been inconsistent, with their three victories coming by a combined 10 points.

According to Interstat’s game simulator, San Diego is projected to win 39-21. Following this game, Drake will host Davidson, while San Diego has a bye before traveling to face Davidson on Oct. 25.
