Prairie View at Alcorn State

LORMAN, Miss. (Interstat) — A surging Prairie View A&M team will look to extend its winning streak against a struggling Alcorn State squad searching for its first victory when the Panthers visit the Braves on Saturday.

The Panthers (3-2) enter the contest riding a three-game winning streak, most recently a 28-13 victory over Grambling on Sept. 27. Their offense has found its rhythm on the ground, with running back Lamagea McDowell rushing for 98 yards and a touchdown in the win. Quarterbacks Tevin Carter and Cameron Peters have shared duties, combining for 122 passing yards and a score against Grambling.

Alcorn State (0-4) is coming off its best performance of the season, a 24-20 win over Arkansas-Pine Bluff that snapped a four-game skid to open the year. The Braves’ offense exploded behind a stellar performance from running back Jacorian Sewell, who racked up 225 rushing yards and two touchdowns. Quarterback Jaylon Tolbert added 207 passing yards and a touchdown.

Despite the records, the matchup at Spinks-Casem Stadium projects to be a high-scoring affair. Interstat’s game simulator predicts a narrow 42-38 victory for the home-standing Braves.

The game will be a key Southwestern Athletic Conference contest for both teams as they navigate the heart of their league schedules.
