Tulsa at Memphis
MEMPHIS, Tenn. (Interstat) — The undefeated and 19th-ranked Memphis Tigers look to continue their best start in years when they host the Tulsa Golden Hurricane on Saturday at Simmons Bank Liberty Stadium.
Memphis (5-0) is riding high after a 55-26 road victory over Florida Atlantic last week, where the offense exploded for 625 total yards. Quarterback Brendon Lewis was efficient, going 13-for-19 for 196 yards and two touchdowns while adding 60 yards and two more scores on the ground. Running back Greg Desrosiers Jr. was the standout, rushing for 204 yards and three touchdowns on just 19 carries.
The Tigers’ potent offense, which has averaged over 40 points per game during its five-game winning streak, will face a Tulsa team seeking to regain its footing. The Golden Hurricane (2-3) are coming off a 31-14 home loss to Tulane. Quarterback Baylor Hayes threw for 245 yards and a touchdown in the loss, but the running game was held in check.
Tulsa’s season has been marked by inconsistency, with a win over Oklahoma State sandwiched between double-digit losses. Interstat’s game simulator projects a 35-27 victory for Memphis. Despite the projection, oddsmakers have installed Tulsa as a substantial underdog, with a spread of +20.5 points. The over/under is set at 55.5.
Kickoff is set for Saturday, Oct. 4, in Memphis.
