Wright State at Ohio State
COLUMBUS, Ohio (Interstat) — Wright State visits Ohio State on Tuesday at Bill Davis Stadium in a nonconference matchup between two programs in the midst of competitive seasons. First pitch is scheduled for 6:35 p.m. under cloudy skies with temperatures around 66 degrees.
The Buckeyes (26-22) enter the game having won their last two, including a 3-2, 10-inning victory Sunday over Michigan State. Ohio State holds a slight edge in the all-time series against the Raiders, but Wright State won the most recent meeting March 24, 10-8, in Dayton. The Interstat game simulator projects a 7-6 Ohio State victory.
Players to Watch
Wright State (24-23) will rely on outfielder Cy Turner, who has been an offensive catalyst despite inconsistent results. In his last 10 games, Turner has produced three multi-hit performances, including a 4-for-5, two-homer, seven-RBI outburst May 3 at Oakland and a 2-for-6, two-homer, five-RBI effort Sunday at Northern Kentucky. However, he has also gone hitless in four of those contests, including an 0-for-6 showing Saturday.
For Ohio State, right-handed pitcher Pierce Herrenbruck has been the staff’s most reliable arm. The right-hander has posted quality starts in three of his last four outings, including a 5-inning, one-earned-run performance Sunday against Michigan State and a 7-inning, one-earned-run gem May 3 against Nebraska. His lone hiccup came April 26 at Rutgers, where he allowed six earned runs in 5⅓ innings.
