Le Moyne at Albany

Le Moyne at Albany preview

ALBANY, N.Y. (Interstat) — Le Moyne visits Albany on Tuesday afternoon at Varsity Field, with first pitch scheduled under cloudy skies and a temperature of 60 degrees.

The Dolphins (18-23) bring a three-game winning streak into the matchup, while the Great Danes (14-28) are coming off a series split against Binghamton.

Le Moyne outfielder Cooper Romich is a player to watch. In a 16-15 win over Maryland-Eastern Shore on Saturday, Romich went 3-for-5 with a home run and three RBIs. Over his last 10 games, the first baseman is hitting .324 (11-for-34) with one homer, 10 RBIs and a .378 on-base percentage.

For Albany, pitcher Zach Mravlja has been effective in relief. In Sunday’s 11-9 win against Binghamton, Mravlja tossed two scoreless innings, allowing two hits and striking out two. Over his last four appearances, the right-hander has a 2.70 ERA across 6 2/3 innings, with five strikeouts and no walks.

The Great Danes will look to snap a trend of inconsistent offense. Albany scored 11 runs in Sunday’s win but managed only one run in the series opener and two in the second game of the doubleheader.

Le Moyne’s offense has been potent. In Saturday’s 16-15 victory, Jack Cannon homered and drove in three runs, and shortstop Adam Sullivan went 3-for-3 with two RBIs. The Dolphins have scored at least five runs in seven of their last 10 games.

Albany’s pitching staff has struggled, posting a 7.02 ERA over the last five games. The Great Danes have allowed 10 or more runs in three of those contests.

The Interstat game simulator projects an 8-3 Le Moyne victory.

Both teams have key series ahead. Le Moyne travels to Central Connecticut for a three-game set starting Thursday. Albany visits Maine for a three-game series beginning the same day.

The Dolphins and Great Danes have met once this season, with Le Moyne winning 14-5 on March 18 in Syracuse.
