Aggies edge Texans 9‑7 behind Sorrell’s two homers

COLLEGE STATION, Texas (Interstat) — Caden Sorrell homered twice and drove in two runs, lifting Texas A&M to a 9-7 victory over Tarleton State on Tuesday night at Olsen Field at Blue Bell Park. The Aggies improved to 34-8, while the Texans dropped to 28-16.

Sorrell finished 3-for-5, launching solo homers in the first and fifth innings. Bear Harrison added a solo shot in the fifth, and Nico Partida drove in three runs, including a go-ahead RBI single in the eighth. Ethan Darden threw 2⅓ scoreless innings of relief for the win.

Tarleton State’s Rayner Heinrich went 3-for-5 with three RBIs, and Carson Lorch and Cage McCloud each hit solo homers in a six-run fourth inning that gave the Texans a 7-3 lead. But Texas A&M answered with Partida’s two-run double in the sixth and a wild pitch that scored the tying run before Partida’s eighth-inning single put the Aggies ahead for good.
