Boston College at Notre Dame

BC/ND PREVIEW

NOTRE DAME, Ind. (Interstat) — Julio Solier and the Boston College Eagles look to continue their strong ACC campaign Friday evening against the Notre Dame Fighting Irish at Frank Eck Stadium.

First pitch is set for 6 p.m. EDT under clear skies with temperatures near 76 degrees.

Boston College (31-13, 14-9 ACC) enters as one of the conference’s hottest teams, having won eight of its last 10 games. The Eagles, however, stumbled in their most recent outing, a 6-4 loss Tuesday to Maine. Solier, a shortstop, went 3-for-5 with an RBI in that defeat.

Solier has been a consistent force in the BC lineup. Over his last 10 games, he has recorded multiple hits six times, including a 3-for-5, two-RBI performance in a 14-6 win over Duke on April 18. He is hitting .320 (13-for-40) in that span with six RBIs.

Notre Dame (18-18, 5-15) snapped a five-game losing streak Wednesday with a 3-2 win at Michigan State. Reliever Caden Crowell tossed three scoreless innings, allowing no hits and striking out three to earn the victory.

Crowell has been effective out of the bullpen this month. In four of his last five appearances, he has not allowed an earned run, posting a 0.96 ERA over 9.1 innings with 15 strikeouts.

The Fightin’ Irish have struggled at home, losing four of their last five at Eck Stadium. Their pitching staff has a 5.67 ERA in ACC play.

Interstat’s game simulator projects an 8-3 win for Boston College. The ELO system gives Notre Dame a 57.3 percent probability to win.

The three-game series continues Saturday and concludes Sunday. Boston College then travels to Clemson for a three-game set starting May 1. Notre Dame hosts Stanford for a three-game series beginning May 1.
