Holland’s Gem Leads Jacksonville Past Florida Gulf Coast

FORT MYERS, Fla. (Interstat) — Brendan Holland threw seven no-hit innings as the Jacksonville Dolphins defeated the Florida Gulf Coast Eagles 4-1 in ASUN baseball action Saturday at Swanson Stadium.

Holland struck out seven and walked none, dominating Eagles batters before handing off to the bullpen. Jacksonville provided run support with a second-inning sacrifice fly from Logan Baratta, a fifth-inning RBI single from Sammy Mummau and a two-run single by Derek Bermudez in the eighth.

Florida Gulf Coast’s lone run scored on a balk in the eighth inning. Eagles starter Chris Diaz allowed one earned run over six innings with eight strikeouts but took the loss. Jacksonville improved to 17-17 overall, while Florida Gulf Coast fell to 20-13.
