ASUN Baseball Preview: Jacksonville Dolphins at Florida Gulf Coast Eagles
FORT MYERS, Fla. (Interstat) — The Florida Gulf Coast Eagles will look to continue their strong season and build on a series-opening win when they host the Jacksonville Dolphins in an ASUN Conference matchup Saturday at Swanson Stadium.
First pitch is scheduled for Saturday, April 11, 2026, under forecasted cloudy skies with a temperature near 81 degrees.
The Eagles (20-11) took the series opener Friday, shutting out the Dolphins. They enter with a winning record bolstered by consistent play, including a recent 6-2 road victory at West Georgia last Saturday. FGCU’s Javier Gorostola homered in that win.
Jacksonville (15-17) seeks to even the series after being blanked Friday. The Dolphins have struggled offensively at times, having also been shut out 3-0 by Stetson last Saturday despite a strong pitching performance.
A key matchup will feature Jacksonville right-hander Brendan Holland on the mound. Holland has been a bright spot, coming off a dominant outing where he threw six scoreless innings, allowing just two hits and striking out seven in that loss to Stetson. Over his last four starts, he has a 1.59 ERA with 23 strikeouts in 21 innings, though the Dolphins have lost three of those games.
For the Eagles, two-way player Sebastian Lippman is a player to watch. On the mound, he tossed 4 2/3 hitless relief innings with three strikeouts in the win at West Georgia. At the plate, he hit a two-run homer against Miami (Fla.) on March 31.
Interstat’s projections offer a split verdict: its game simulator predicts a narrow 4-3 victory for Jacksonville, while its ELO rating system gives Florida Gulf Coast a 62.5% probability to win.
Following Saturday’s contest, the series concludes Sunday in Fort Myers before both teams embark on midweek non-conference games. Jacksonville travels to UCF on Tuesday, while Florida Gulf Coast visits Florida Atlantic.
