WEST HAVEN, Conn. (Interstat) — Yale erupted for seven runs in the second inning and never looked back, defeating Iona 12-1 on Wednesday at Yale Field. The Bulldogs improved to 24-13 while the Gaels fell to 16-25.

Davis Hanson led Yale with two doubles and four RBIs. Colin Sloan added two RBIs on a single and a sacrifice fly. Chris Diprima had two RBI singles in the first two innings. Jack Dauer tripled in a run in the fifth.

Yale pitchers Nicholas West, Brett Faccio and Daniel Cohen combined to hold Iona to four hits. Iona starter Daniel Castillo took the loss. Aiden Jovia and Jack Puvogel also pitched for the Gaels.

The Bulldogs scored three more in the fourth, including a two-run double by Hanson, and added two in the fifth. Iona’s lone run came in the sixth on a walk with the bases loaded.

Yale outhit Iona 11-4.
