Tippett, Cougars Rally Past Buccaneers in Crosstown Showdown

MOUNT PLEASANT, S.C. (Interstat) — Will Tippett hit a two-run homer and drove in three as College of Charleston rallied to defeat Charleston Southern 7-5 on Tuesday night at CofC Baseball Stadium at Patriot’s Point.

The Cougars (20-20) erased an early 5-2 deficit. Tippett’s blast in the second inning started the comeback and his RBI groundout in the fourth brought College of Charleston within one. Dylan Johnson tied the game with an RBI single in the seventh and added a go-ahead single in the eighth, finishing 4 for 5 with two RBIs.

Charleston Southern (22-17) collected 16 hits, including three from Tyler Wright who had three RBIs. The Buccaneers’ bullpen, led by Zach Stichweh’s three hitless innings, kept the game close before the Cougars’ late surge. Ryan Hench earned the win with two scoreless relief innings.
