Elon Rallies Past Winthrop in High-Scoring Affair, Avenges Blowout Loss From Prior Week
ROCK HILL, S.C. (Interstat) — Jared Hall homered and drove in two runs as Elon scored 10 runs on eight hits to outlast Winthrop 10-8 at Winthrop Ballpark on Tuesday, avenging a 13-3 loss to the Eagles from a week earlier.
Winthrop’s Josh Skowronski launched a solo homer in the first and later cleared the bases with a three-run double in the seventh, finishing with four RBIs. His efforts highlighted a nine-hit Eagles attack that chipped away at an early deficit but fell short.
The Phoenix bullpen secured the win, with five relievers combining for 7 1/3 scoreless innings. Cole Hansen struck out three over two perfect frames. Elon improved to 17-23, while 27-14 Winthrop saw a four-game win streak snapped.
