San Francisco at Portland

PORTLAND, Ore. (Interstat) — The Portland Pilots look to build on their strong season start when they host the San Francisco Dons in the second game of a weekend series Saturday at Joe Etzel Field.

First pitch is scheduled for Saturday, April 18, 2026, under cloudy skies with a game-time temperature near 59 degrees.

Portland (20-14) holds a better overall record than San Francisco (17-16) and took the series opener Friday, shutting out the Dons. The Pilots have won four of their last six games despite dropping a 9-3 decision at Washington State on Monday.

A player to watch for Portland is third baseman Dakota Chun, who provided the team’s primary offense in that loss, going 1-for-4 with a two-run homer. He looks to spark a lineup that was quieted for only two hits in Friday’s win.

San Francisco seeks to rebound from consecutive losses, including a 12-2 road defeat at Sacramento State on Tuesday and Friday’s shutout. The Dons had won three of four prior to this skid.

Reliever Alex Gomez is a key figure for San Francisco. He was a bright spot in the loss to Sacramento State, tossing a perfect inning with two strikeouts. However, his recent outings have been inconsistent, including a two-run, two-hit appearance against California on April 6.

According to Interstat’s game simulator, this contest projects to be a tight one, with a predicted final score of San Francisco 5, Portland 4.

Following Saturday’s game, the series concludes Sunday before both teams embark on busy stretches. Portland faces a road-heavy schedule next week with a midweek game at Washington followed by a weekend series at Santa Clara. San Francisco visits California on Tuesday before hosting Pacific next weekend.
