Arizona State at BYU

PROVO, Utah (Interstat) — The Arizona State Sun Devils will look to rebound from a lopsided defeat and even their Big 12 series with the BYU Cougars on Friday at Larry H. Miller Field, where cold and wet conditions are expected.

First pitch is scheduled for 6 p.m. MDT. The forecast calls for a temperature of 36 degrees with rain.

The Sun Devils (26-13) enter after a 19-9, seven-inning loss to the Cougars on Thursday. Arizona State has lost four of its last six games. BYU (20-16) has won five of its last six, including a four-game road sweep at Houston last weekend.

Arizona State’s Matthew Polk will be a key figure after a perfect 4-for-4 performance Thursday that included a home run and three RBIs. For the season, the outfielder is batting .412 with 12 home runs and 47 RBIs.

BYU will counter with hot-hitting Bryker Hurdsman, who matched Polk’s 4-for-4 line Thursday while driving in five runs. The outfielder is batting .351 with eight homers and 38 RBIs this season.

Interstat’s game simulator projects a narrow 8-7 victory for Arizona State.

The series concludes Saturday in Provo before both teams embark on extended conference slates. Arizona State hosts Baylor next weekend, while BYU travels to face Arizona.
