Gorostola’s Two Homers Power Eagles Past Dolphins in ASUN Clash
FORT MYERS, Fla. (Interstat) — Javier Gorostola homered twice and drove in all four runs Sunday evening as Florida Gulf Coast defeated Jacksonville 4-1 in ASUN Conference baseball at Swanson Stadium.
Gorostola, the Eagles’ third baseman, snapped a personal hitless streak with a three-run homer in the third inning and added a solo shot in the sixth. His four RBIs provided all the scoring for Florida Gulf Coast (21-13), which salvaged the series finale after dropping the first two games to the Dolphins.
Hunter Possehl earned the win, allowing no earned runs over six innings. Jacksonville (17-18) managed just five hits, with Derek Bermudez providing an RBI single in the sixth. Kyle Powers threw three hitless innings in relief for the Dolphins.
