Presbyterian at Charleston Southern

NORTH CHARLESTON, S.C. (Interstat) — The Charleston Southern Buccaneers will look to continue their dominance over the struggling Presbyterian Blue Hose in a Big South Conference matchup Saturday at Buccaneer Ballpark.

First pitch is scheduled for the evening, though forecasts call for rain and a temperature near 78 degrees. The game is the third of a weekend series.

Charleston Southern (18-10) has handily won the first two contests, including a 7-0 shutout on Thursday. The Buccaneers’ season record stands in stark contrast to Presbyterian’s 6-24 mark.

A major storyline will be the pitching matchup, particularly if it mirrors Thursday’s duel. Charleston Southern ace Titus von Kapff authored a complete-game, six-hit shutout in that victory, striking out five. He has been a workhorse for the Bucs, logging a nine-inning outing and an eight-inning effort in his last three starts.

For Presbyterian, reliever Mason McDaniel has been a rare bright spot. He threw three perfect innings of relief in Thursday’s loss, part of a recent stretch where he has not allowed an earned run in eight of his last nine appearances. His role, whether in extended relief or a potential start, will be pivotal for the Blue Hose.

The Buccaneers’ offense, powered by players like Blake Edgmon and Lucas Pringle who combined for four RBIs on Thursday, has overwhelmed Presbyterian pitching, which has surrendered 14 runs in the series so far.

Interstat’s game simulator projects a 5-2 victory for Charleston Southern.

Following Saturday’s game, Presbyterian travels to face Georgia on Tuesday. Charleston Southern will visit The Citadel the same day.
