Radbill’s Stellar Start Powers Rutgers to Shutout Victory Over Delaware

PISCATAWAY, N.J. (Interstat) — Henry Radbill and four relievers combined on a three-hit shutout as Rutgers blanked Delaware 8-0 in a nonconference baseball game Tuesday afternoon and evening at Bainton Field.

Radbill, the top star for the Scarlet Knights, set the tone with 4 1/3 hitless innings, striking out six. The Rutgers bullpen preserved the shutout from there. The offense provided early support with solo home runs from Peyton Bonds in the first inning and a two-run shot from Ryan Jaros in the second.

Delaware was held to just three singles. Andrew Callaway delivered 3 2/3 hitless innings in relief for the Blue Hens, but earlier pitching struggles proved costly. Rutgers capitalized on walks and a wild pitch during a four-run fourth inning to pull away.

With the win, Rutgers improved to 14-10, while Delaware fell to 10-15.
