Vanderbilt Offense Erupts to Overpower Tennessee Tech
NASHVILLE, Tenn. (Interstat) — Mike Mancini drove in three runs on three hits as Vanderbilt surged past Tennessee Tech 15-5 on Tuesday afternoon at Ken Dugan Field.
The Commodores (14-12) amassed 18 hits, erasing an early 5-0 deficit with a six-run fourth inning and a five-run fifth. Manny Garza hit a solo homer and had two RBIs for the Golden Eagles (9-16), who scored all five runs in the first four innings. Vanderbilt relievers Nate Schlote, Tristan Bristow, Nate Teague and Tyler Baird combined for 4 1/3 scoreless innings. Tennessee Tech’s Justin Fallon and Carson Davis also provided scoreless relief. The game was a reversal of Interstat’s pregame projection, which favored Vanderbilt but predicted a 4-2 final.
