Tennessee Tech at Vanderbilt

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (Interstat) — The Vanderbilt Commodores look to halt a four-game skid when they host the Tennessee Tech Golden Eagles in a nonconference baseball matchup Tuesday at Ken Dugan Field at Stephen Lee Marsh Stadium.

First pitch is scheduled for the evening, with cloudy skies and temperatures around 53 degrees forecast.

Vanderbilt (13-12) is returning home after being swept in a three-game Southeastern Conference series at Mississippi State, culminating in a 17-7 loss Sunday. Logan Johnstone provided a bright spot in that defeat, going 2 for 4 with a home run and three RBIs. The outfielder has shown power recently, homering in three of his last eight games.

Tennessee Tech (9-15) also seeks to rebound from a difficult weekend, having dropped three straight to Arkansas-Little Rock. The Golden Eagles fell 11-10 on Sunday despite a huge performance from Jorsixt Jimenez, who was 3 for 4 with two home runs and five RBIs. The right fielder has been on a tear, driving in 17 runs over his last nine games while hitting six home runs in that span.

The Commodores hold a slight edge in overall record and will look to capitalize on a home field where they are 9-5 this season. Tennessee Tech is 4-9 in road games.

According to Interstat’s game simulator, Vanderbilt is projected to win 4-2.

The game serves as a final tune-up before both teams resume conference play this weekend. Vanderbilt opens a pivotal three-game home series against Tennessee on Friday. Tennessee Tech travels to begin an Ohio Valley Conference series at SIU Edwardsville on Friday.
