Jacksonville at South Florida
Rain, Records Set Stage for Bulls-Dolphins Rematch
TAMPA, Fla. (March 17, 2026) (Interstat) — A rematch between surging South Florida and .500 Jacksonville will be played under rainy skies Tuesday night at USF Baseball Stadium.
The Bulls (17-3), winners of 12 of their last 13, will host the Dolphins (10-10) in a non-conference midweek contest. First pitch is scheduled for 6 p.m. EDT, with a forecast of 68 degrees and rain.
South Florida, coming off a series sweep of Columbia where it allowed just nine total runs, has been dominant. The Bulls won the previous meeting between these teams 11-6 in Jacksonville on March 9.
Jacksonville aims to bounce back from a series loss at West Georgia, though it won the finale 10-5 in 10 innings on Sunday. Second baseman Roger Vergara went 4-for-5 with two RBIs in that victory.
A key matchup will feature two recent starters on the mound. For Jacksonville, right-hander Brendan Holland (1-2, 4.15 ERA) is expected to pitch. He threw four scoreless innings of relief with six strikeouts Sunday and has shown swing-and-miss stuff, fanning 24 batters in 21.2 innings this season.
South Florida will counter with left-hander Michael Senay (4-0, 1.06 ERA), who has been nearly untouchable. In his last start March 14, Senay threw 7.1 shutout innings, allowing five hits and striking out six in a 2-0 win over Columbia. He has not allowed an earned run in three of his four starts.
The Bulls’ lineup, which averages over eight runs per game, will test a Dolphins pitching staff with a 5.82 team ERA. Jacksonville’s offense is led by Vergara (.341) and will need production to keep pace.
According to Interstat’s game simulator, South Florida is a heavy favorite, projected to win 7-1.
Following this game, Jacksonville begins a three-game series at Queens (N.C.) on Friday. South Florida opens a home series against Rice on Friday.
