Klecker Dominates as Sun Devils Blank Horned Frogs
PHOENIX (Interstat) — Kole Klecker fired seven scoreless innings, allowing just two hits and striking out seven, to lead Arizona State to a 4-0 victory over Texas Christian in a Big 12 conference game Sunday evening at Phoenix Municipal Stadium.
The Sun Devils (14-5) secured the series win after splitting the first two games. Klecker outdueled TCU starter Trever Baumler, who took the loss despite not allowing a hit over five innings; he walked five and yielded three earned runs.
Arizona State scored on a second-inning sacrifice fly by Brody Briggs and an RBI single from Dominic Smaldino in the third. Landon Hairston and Dean Toigo each added solo home runs. The Horned Frogs (11-8) were shut out on two hits, with relievers Walter Quinn and Zack James combining for three innings of one-run ball.
