Texas-Arlington at Texas-San Antonio

SAN ANTONIO (Interstat) — The Texas-San Antonio Roadrunners will look to halt a two-game skid and avoid a series sweep when they host the Texas-Arlington Mavericks in the finale of a three-game set Sunday afternoon at Roadrunner Field.

First pitch is scheduled for 2 p.m. under clear skies with a game-time temperature of 80 degrees.

UTSA (14-5), which entered the series on a six-game winning streak, has dropped the first two contests in high-scoring fashion, 15-11 on Friday and 11-8 on Saturday. The Roadrunners’ potent offense, led by catcher Andrew Stucky, will aim to rebound. Stucky homered and drove in three runs in Saturday’s loss.

The Mavericks (7-11) have found their offensive stride in San Antonio, racking up 26 runs on 28 hits over the series’ first two games. A key to their success has been reliever Kyle Winkler, who earned the win Saturday with five scoreless innings of one-run ball. Winkler has not allowed an earned run in his last four appearances, spanning 12 innings.

Despite UTA’s recent surge, statistical models heavily favor the home team. Interstat’s game simulator projects a 7-3 Roadrunners victory, and its ELO rating system gives UTSA a 79.2% probability to win.

The Roadrunners will turn to their lineup to counter UTA’s momentum. Stucky, despite a recent slump, has four home runs and 10 RBIs in his last 10 games, including a grand slam in a win over Texas Tech on March 10.

Following Sunday’s contest, UTSA travels to face Houston Christian on Tuesday. UTA returns home to host Stephen F. Austin on Tuesday.
