Cold Battle Set for Elliot Ballpark as Huskies Host Eagles
GERALDTON, Ontario (Interstat) — A frigid, snowy evening awaits at Elliot Ballpark on Tuesday as the Connecticut Huskies host the Boston College Eagles in a nonconference baseball clash.
First pitch is scheduled for 6:05 p.m. EDT under forecasted conditions of 17 degrees Fahrenheit and snow. The game was initially slated for the afternoon but was moved to the evening.
Boston College (9-6) enters having won two of three at Miami (Fla.), including a 9-5 victory Sunday. The Eagles’ bullpen has been anchored by Kyle Kipp, who has not allowed a hit in his last 11.2 innings over four appearances. In Sunday’s win, Kipp threw four hitless innings in relief with three strikeouts, and catcher Cesar Gonzalez powered the offense with a home run and four RBIs.
Connecticut (7-8) looks to rebound after a 6-5 loss at Old Dominion on Sunday. Right fielder Chris Polemeni provided the key hit in that defeat, a two-run homer. He has been a consistent bat for the Huskies, recording a hit in seven of his last nine games.
The Huskies took two of three from Old Dominion over the weekend before Sunday’s narrow loss.
According to Interstat’s game simulator, the projected final score is Connecticut 6, Boston College 5.
Following this midweek contest, both teams embark on extended road trips. Boston College travels to face North Carolina State in a three-game Atlantic Coast Conference series starting Friday. Connecticut begins a West Coast swing with a three-game set at Portland starting Friday.
